Premium Vintage Sweet Potato Shochu "Marunishi" (2008)

This gift series is perfect for those who love shochu and awamori. We have carefully selected vintage shochu and awamori aged for over 10 years from all over Japan.

Marunishi is an authentic imo-shochu made from sweet potatoes that was distilled in 2008 and aged for 16 years in ceramic pots. It is brewed using Tanegashima beni imo (red sweet potatoes) and traditional small-batch, handmade methods.

2008年 Marunishi

The full-bodied taste of the undiluted liquor is felt straight through, and then a spicy aroma similar to pepper rises from behind. Once that spiciness subsides, the sweetness of the potato shochu slowly fills your mouth.

The eastern part of Kagoshima Prefecture, where the Shirasu Plateau spreads, is home to high-quality sweet potatoes. Marunishi Shuzo uses these potatoes to brew potato shochu using traditional methods with a small number of people. The taste and aroma can only be achieved by brewing in earthenware jars, as they have done since the brewery was founded. Marunishi Shuzo is one of the few breweries that focuses on aging.
