Honkaku shochu is considered to be a healthy drink when consumed in moderation.
The first thing to note is that it is effective in preventing blood clots . Blood clots can cause stroke or myocardial infarction. An enzyme called plasmin is responsible for dissolving blood clots. Shochu, especially sweet potato shochu and awamori, are known to have the effect of increasing plasmin.
Furthermore, authentic shochu is low in carbohydrates and contains no purines . Potato shochu contains anthocyanin, a type of polyphenol, which has anti-aging effects.

☆Sommelier's tasting comments☆
A cous that exudes the deliciousness of old koji and the sweetness of Kin Town's ``Yamashimizu'' (preparation water) used from washed rice. It's hard to believe that it's 44% Alc. It has a mellow and deep flavor, a rich aroma, and a sweetness that spreads in your mouth.
~ Brewery: Matsufuji Founded in 1905, Kin Town, Okinawa Prefecture ~
Okinawa has cultivated awamori, a unique type of shochu culture. It differs from rice shochu made in Kumamoto and elsewhere in that it uses Thai rice as its main ingredient and is fermented entirely with rice malt (rice that has grown koji mold). Its unique brewing and distillation method is different from any other rice-based distilled liquor, and awamori made in Ryukyu is the only one in the world that has been granted the Geographical Indication (GI Mark) ``Ryukyu.''

~ Brewing company Fusanotsuyu Founded in 1907 Taragi-cho, Kuma-gun, Kumamoto Prefecture ~
The brewery is particular about raw materials, storage, and quality, and while inheriting the 500-year-old tradition and technique of making Kuma shochu, which uses rice as the raw material, the brewery is constantly engaged in research and development, and has new ideas and flexibility. Taking advantage of Kuma's climate, which is blessed with beautiful water, raw materials, and clear air, we produce authentic shochu that can only be made in Kumamoto.

The raw material is carefully selected Kogane Sengan from Kagoshima Prefecture. The shochu was brewed in traditional jars and aged in jars inside the stone storehouse. The sweet aroma of fruit caramel tickles your nose, and you can enjoy the rich ripeness.
~ Brewery: Kami Sake Brewery Founded in 1872, Izumi City, Kagoshima Prefecture ~
A brewery that shares the prefectural border with Kumamoto, but is particular about using raw materials from Kagoshima Prefecture and proudly produces authentic potato shochu. We continue to uphold the tradition of brewing in Japanese jars, which we have been using since our founding. Izumi City is also famous for having more than 10,000 cranes, which is where the city got its name, ``Chizuru.''
``Beautiful Sake of Ancient Times 2006 Zuitaka''
2006 Zuitaka (300ml) Barley Shochu
Honkoku barley shochu Main ingredients: Barley malt: Barley malt Alcohol content: 44%
☆Sommelier's tasting comments☆
The moromi is made with barley from Kumamoto and underground water from Aso, and distilled using a traditional pressure-free method. It is characterized by the strong aroma of barley and deep sweetness. You can enjoy an impactful and complex flavor with a sense of weight and roughness.
~ Brewery: Mizutaka Founded in 1867, Kumamoto City, Kumamoto Prefecture ~
The sake ginjo yeast ``Kyokai No. 9,'' which is now commonly used, was developed in Kumamoto. Southern Kyushu is a shochu region, but the reason Kumamoto has so many sake breweries can be traced back to Zuitaka, which was founded with the idea of ``creating the first sake in Kumamoto.'' Shochu, sake, and red sake are all brewed with roots in Kumamoto's climate.
Shochu allows you to spend a special time while paying attention to your health. Why not give a one-of-a-kind gift to someone you love and admire?
