Ancient Wine 1999

Sake Junmai Rice: Gohyakumangoku rice polishing ratio 60%
Alcohol content: 15% to 16%. Store in bottles at room temperature.

Sommelier's comments

This 20-year-old Gohyakumangoku sake is characterized by its light flavor. It has a sweet and gorgeous aged aroma reminiscent of honey and black tea, and a rich flavor with a mellow sweetness and a hint of bitterness. It has a refreshing dry taste with a firm acidity.

Brewed by: Narimasa Sake Brewery

Founded in 1894 in Nanto City, Toyama Prefecture

This small brewery in the Hokuriku region uses rice suitable for sake brewing, grown locally in Nanto City, and brews sake with the famous water from the lush green Mt. Iozan, called "Yari no Saki no Mizu." It is said that this brewing water was used by the warlord Sassa Narimasa, whose name the brewery takes its name from, who was searching for water and when he struck the ground with a spear, water gushed forth, allowing him to escape disaster. The rice is also made with this water.
