1984 Batsugun
Barley Shochu unprocessed
Ingredients: Domestic barley
Kouji: Malted Rice
Alcohol content 38 percent
Sommelier's comment
Despite its 38% alcohol content, there is a surprising sweetness at the first taste. The super-long aging process has transformed the richness of the original shochu into a full-bodied, aromatic, and mellow taste.
Producer: Batsugun Syuzou
Founded in 1923, Taragi-machi, Kuma-gun, Kumamoto Prefecture
"Kuma Shochu" is one of the Geographical Indications of Japan, known for having higher quality rice to produce shochu. Batsugun Syuzou is relatively young shochu producer among the 500-year-history of Kuma Shochu. The young distiller tried the atmospheric distillation method 40 years ago, and the spirits now revive beyond the time.
